Sometimes I feel like I am in a rut when it comes to music. I know what I like and just listen to it over and over again. But sometimes I want something new.
As a family we regularly go to our local library and it is the best place to search out new music. They have a wide selection of C.D’s and DVD’s. I recently got 3 DVD’s out – 2 that I already liked and 1 that I had not heard before. All live concerts and highly enjoyable. I now have another artist that I like – The John Butler Trio. I had heard about them but not heard them. I will be listening again. I am going back to the library this week and I am excited about the artists that I have not heard before.
Talking to the library staff they have told me, in the past, that there are lots of downloads and ebooks available to borrow from the library. The way it works is that you download the file that you want and after a period of time it refuses you access to it so that it is like borrowing.
I just went to my library website and typed in music and nearly 10,000 resources available. Happy days looking for enjoyment and learning.
Try out your local library. It is free and there is so much that you can access.
However, having been a struggling musician I have made the decision that if I like an artist I will buy music from them. I know, personally, that if everything is given away for free and nothing is bought artists cannot carry on being creative while having to fund their life through other work. Enjoy.
