Music to Relax too.
Today I am going to compare the relaxation music I have created and mixed on Pro Tools to 5 new tracks that I intend to mix on Logic Pro. Have a listen to my tracks on Spotify and enjoy.
Mixed on Pro Tools
The first five tracks are –
Talking Guitars, Uplifting Strings, Treading Lightly, Floating Flute, Tranquil Heart.

The Creation Process
These were the first 5 relaxation pieces that I have ever created and I was really happy with them.
I used chords that all gave the impression of calmness and rest and used sounds that were light and gentle. The result, I was informed, was relaxing.
I was using the free Pro Tools software as the full Pro Tools had become too expensive. This meant that I could create up to 8 tracks, which isn’t much.
We have come a Long Way
Interestingly, when I first started my home recording journey I had a 4 – track cassette recorder. Then the technology enabled me to record a SMPTE track on one of my cassette tracks and link this to Cubase which could play MIDI tracks. As time went by I could record more MIDI tracks as long as I had the Synths or Sound Modules to play the sounds. My first Sound Module could play 8 notes, with a maximum of 2 notes per sound, giving 4 sounds or 8 sounds with one note each.
I had to have a dedicated Sound Module to play a drum kit as a drummer could, potentially play 4 instruments, simultaneously.
SMPTE was herald as the ultimate breakthrough with home recording but you could only run the tape a number of times before the tape stretched and the SMPTE recording was out of sync with the audio recordings.
With this history I knew I could create complex and high-quality recordings with just 8 tracks.
Looking to my Future
Now, having bought and installed Logic Pro I have the ability to create more relaxation pieces with unlimited tracks and enough instrument sounds to fill a stadium.
So, my first task is to take the 5 pieces of new music I created on Pro Tools and re-mix them on Logic Pro. Will they be better or will the overwhelming amount of choice be a hindrance.
You will be able to give your opinion next week when I compare 2 of the tracks.
